June 27, 2022 – Sunsets

With a home with views to the east, we rarely see sunsets.

We had our fill on this trip.

It was beautiful to go up to the lighthouse at sunset.

I love this shot of all the people enjoying the sunset.

June 26, 2022 – On Monhegan Island

June 26, 2022 – On Monhegan Island

This boat ground ashore in 1940 and is still rusting away.

The populated part of the island from up near the lighthouse.

Linda peering over the rocks looking for seals.

Pulpit Rock.

There is a 4.5 mile hike around the perimeter of the island.

Out on the trail.

Days aren’t much nicer than this!

With our traveling companions for lunch on the deck.

The bargain of the trip was $5 to go on a boat cruise around the island.

Watching the ocean.

On the hunt for tidal pools. Check!

A brewery on the island – not sure I’ve been in a brewery outlined by lobster traps.

June 23, 2022 – La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin

“Life is too short to drink bad wine.” Or, I might add, eat bad food. But that is hard to do in Montreal.

Pickled herring.

At the pâtisserie for breakfast.

Quite a spread of tacos!

Our favorite place in Montreal is aPolish restaurant of all things – Stash Cafe. Where else could you get a side order of a cabbage roll?

Out on a quay on the St Lawrence River in Montreal.

With our Iowa traveling companions on this trip.

Linda and Anne deciding on a direction in old town.

Wonderful walkable back alleys.

Checking out some jewelry purchases.

Waiting for dinner.

Notre Dame cathedral at twilight.

No donuts for cops in Montreal!

Long-time buds.

Urban gardens.

June 12, 2022 – Blooming Pitcher Plants

It’s always nice to dip the paddles here.

Pitcher plants from above.

With a flowering stalk.

And the strange flower itself.

Heading towards Stinson Mountain.

Nearing the upper navigable reaches of the waterway.

Sheep Laurel in bloom.

June 6, 2022 – Mt Morgan

Today it was a different route up Mt Morgan. The first peek at Squam Lake.

The yellow trail marker shows the way.

A ladder leads to a narrow passageway. The missing rung on first ladder is not as big a deal as going sideways from 2nd to 3rd ladder.

Nice view.

A bite to eat at the top.

June 4, 2022 – Beebe River Ride

June 4, 2022 – Beebe River Ride

I took to the Beebe River road on two wheels today, to see what lies beyond the usual hiking distance.

A nice resting spot a few miles up the road.

A side road leads to a very lonely Lower Hall pond.
