November 24, 2017 – Along the East Pemigewasset

November 24, 2017 – Along the East Pemigewasset

Headed out to a couple of new trails today.

The first place Daisy led us was the Lincoln Woods trail. It’s deer hunting season, so Daisy gets a new outfit.

It’s a broad, rocky river at this location – this view maybe 3/4 of a mile up the river.

From the suspension bridge at the trail head.

Selfie time.

First we went on the Forest Discovery trail.

Let’s say we did this one but will probably not return as it was more of a superhighway than a trail.

November 24, 2017 – White Friday!

November 24, 2017 – White Friday!

When you are closer to a ski hill than a mall, it’s a White Friday instead of a Black Friday.

Emma, Martin, and Conrad on the slopes.

Martin trying out his new skiis.

If you’re not pushing it, your not falling!

The new post-Thanksgiving normal.

November 4, 2017 – A Determined Brook, Two Brook Trout, a Ruffed Grouse and Me

November 4, 2017 – A Determined Brook, Two Brook Trout, a Ruffed Grouse and Me

Today a took a walk up a trail close to home that connects to Three Ponds. No other people out today. Just Brook Trout and Ruffed Grouse along the trail.
The start of the trail is this falls.

The trail meanders along Brown Brook.

A few days after the floods, the water is running clear again.

A little further up the trail.

Even saw a couple of Brook Trout in this side tributary..

Another falls before turning back.

I love this photo that shows layers of time.  The ancient rock with intrusive veins, the ever-recycled water, the reflection of a decades-old tree and the seasonal leaves.
